Some Hunters Are Atheists Too

It’s interesting that two totally different people can follow completely divergent paths to10172782_486237174810952_1604406170771652512_n reach the same conclusion.  Lately I’ve been posting about hunters whose sense of self-entitlement was rooted in Christian beliefs. For instance, the Bonus Fallacy in Top Ten Retorts to Hunter Fallacies is, “God put Animals here for us to use.”

But today I received a comment from a hunter troll boasting that she’s an atheist. Like all other comments from hunters trying to justify their pastimes, it was not approved. Once you feed a troll, you can never get rid of them. But since she brought up the inarguable fact that not all killers use religion to justify their actions, I’m posting it here for your perusal:

“I’m an atheist and I love hunting. So it isn’t silly god reasons. Hunting regulations and conservation maintain the populations and of course meat isn’t sustainable for the world’s population, but thankfully we have goofy vegetarians. But yeah, I just love killing them and eating them. They are so delicious and tasty. For me, it’s that wonderful reminder that human beings are primitive and inferior, and I have no delusions about our meaningless existence. I can has retort, now?”

No, sorry, I’m fresh out of retorts. You’ll have to troll somewhere else for an argument to that one.

  1. “In the begining” The first human pair did NOT use animals for food. After the flood, man was allowed to use animals for food NOT sport or trophies. Once you hang a head on your wall or post a pic on FB you’re in violation. The bible forbids animal cruelty. In Genesis 10:8&9 Nimrod was the first man to distinguish himself ” a mighty hunter in OPPOSITION to Jehovah” Most likely he was hunting for ‘sport’ of trophies” not food.

  2. Animal killers will always try to justify what they do with whatever trivia they can muster within their limited brain power. As Jim says, “don’t feed them” –they’ll just crawl back into their bloody holes. None of their superficial rationalizations mean anything, except that they know somewhere in those neanderthal cobwebs, they may realize something is terribly wrong with them. They should be put out of their misery.

    • Having been raised on the bible, I soon learned by studying it, that most of it was really about “begetting” and war. In Genesis, it clearly states that “man has dominion over the Earth…” and, it also states “be fruitful and multiply,” and we sure have done that!
Humans developed religions out of fear and superstition, as they gazed up at the universe on those dark nights. Naturally, since the bible was written by humans, and religions were developed by humans, humans became “Gods” in their own psyche. All societal infrastructure, ideologies, norms, etc., reflect Homo sapiens’ self concepts of superiority, dominance, over all other living beings. Religion has played an major role in the destruction of this Earth. It truly is the Opiate of the People.

  3. All human hunters suck. As for the “christian” hunters, the Bible says, “For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other; they all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts; for all is vanity. All go to one place; all are from dust, and all turn to dust again.” ~Ecclesiastes, 3:19-20 That timely quote was from an email I got this morning.
So many people today are just greedy and plain stupid. They can’t see that they are killing themselves as well as everything else. One day Mother Earth and her animal friends will turn the tables and life will go on without us. Which is actually fine by me. Bless the beasts and Mother Earth!
