Of course it’s disgusting and inexcusable. Another example of how money can buy anything, including the lives of wild animals. Unfortunately, while increasing numbers of people do not want trophy hunting, or any kind of hunting, attention spans can be too short to keep up the pressure. If we could maintain the outrage that came with Cecil’s murder for all the victims, maybe we could make more progress. Not long after Cecil died, a Pennsylvania physician, Dr. Jan Seski, killed a lion on a trophy hunt, and a German millionaire, Rainer Schorr was accused of killing Africa’s biggest elephant. Those deaths did not receive anywhere near the attention that Dr. Palmer got, nor did the hunters suffer the publicity consequences that Palmer did.
